150 Word Bio

Capt Fabian Fernandez  is an international keynote speaker, leadership explorer and author whose work challenges leaders to think differently about uncertainty, resilience and change.

With more than two decades of leadership experience, he has led people and organisations through complex business environments where the answers were rarely obvious and certainty was never guaranteed.

Then he stepped beyond the boardroom.

Capt Fabian Fernandez undertook a 35,000 nautical mile circumnavigation by sailboat, spending 32 months at sea and crossing three oceans. The voyage placed him in situations where there was no conventional playbook, no easy escape and no certainty about what lay ahead. It became a powerful real-world laboratory for decision-making, adaptability, resilience and leadership.

Today, Capt Fabian Fernandez brings those lessons into the corporate world through his keynote, Leaving Harbour. He challenges leaders to stop waiting for certainty and develop the courage, adaptability and resilience required to move forward when the future cannot be predicted.

300 Word Bio

Capt Fabian Fernandez is an international keynote speaker, leadership explorer and author who challenges organisations to rethink how they lead when certainty disappears.

For more than two decades, he has worked in leadership, operational excellence and organisational transformation, leading people through complex business environments where decisions had to be made without perfect information and where the cost of standing still could be greater than the risk of moving forward.

But his most profound leadership lessons came when he left the boardroom.

Capt Fabian Fernandez embarked on a 35,000 nautical mile circumnavigation by sailboat, spending 32 months at sea and crossing three oceans. Sailing across vast stretches of open water meant living with uncertainty every day. There was no corporate safety net, no guaranteed outcome and no simple way to reverse a decision once committed.

The voyage became a living experience of what leadership really demands: making decisions with incomplete information, adapting when circumstances change, maintaining perspective under pressure and continuing forward when the destination is still far beyond the horizon.

Those lessons now form the foundation of his signature keynote, Leaving Harbour.

Capt Fabian Fernandez does not speak about leadership as an abstract concept. He connects extraordinary real-world experiences with the challenges organisations face every day: navigating uncertainty, responding to disruption, developing resilient people, embracing change and making decisions when there is no obvious answer.

As the author of I Did It Anyway, he combines powerful storytelling with practical leadership thinking. His message is not about taking reckless risks. It is about understanding that progress often begins before certainty arrives.

His central challenge to leaders is simple:

You cannot navigate the future by waiting for the sea to become calm.

Whether addressing senior executives, leadership teams or large conference audiences, Capt Fabian Fernandez delivers an experience designed to shift thinking, challenge assumptions and inspire courageous action.

He shows organisations what becomes possible when leaders have the resilience to face uncertainty, the adaptability to change course and the courage to leave harbour.

Today, our speaker is

Every organisation is navigating uncertainty right now. Markets are shifting. Teams are exhausted. The old playbooks no longer work. And yet, the pressure to deliver, transform, and lead has never been greater.

He is here to tell us:

Without a safety net and no guarantees, we can, through perseverance, adaptability, and a never-give-up attitude, and with a fixed destination in our minds, tackle any headwind that comes our way.

He is special because:

While most people avoid uncertainty, he chose to confront it head-on. Sailing across some of the world’s most unforgiving oceans aboard his yacht, Destiny 12, and one of an elite group of Asians who did this entirely on his own, he is here to show us how to navigate this.

Please welcome:

Capt. Fabian Fernandez, bringing us Leadership Beyond the Safe Harbour.
